Alb, garment worn for the coronation by Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. Yellowish taffeta, gold trimming gold embroidery and pearls. Alb was made for Norman King William II by the Royal workshop in Palermo, Sicily. 1181. Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Weltliche Schatzkammer.

The "Cape of Charlemagne" is a large red silk cloak woven with gold on silver threads and adorned with 4 eagles, griffons and roses. The cope was probably made in 1204 CE, and was in fact the coronation mantle of Frederick II, King of Sicily and Holy Roman Emperor

The coronation crown of King George IV. Made 1821. George could not afford to keep the crown, but no one would buy, so he was forced to dismantle it and sell all the jewels. This frame is all that remains.

A Roman marble head dated around 1st-2nd Century AD has been discovered by Greg Crawley, a construction worker driver while undertaking renovation works in Peterborough. Its bust was also discovered close to the site of the original find and were reassembled.

90 years ago today, local villagers in Shami accidentally unearthed a 2-meter statue while digging in the area. Shortly after, it was moved to the National Museum of Iran and dated to 50 BC. The Shami Statue is now considered the single most important work from the Parthian Empire.

The Sarcophagus of Constantina is the 4th century coffin of Constantina, daughter of Emperor Constantine I. It is made from a single slab of red porphyry, an exceptionally hard stone which was difficult to carve. The richly detailed carvings show cupids making wine.
