A remarkably well-preserved Roman sarcophagus has been discovered in Budapest. The sarcophagus was found with its stone lid still fixed in place, secured by metal clamps and molten lead. When archaeologists lifted the lid, they found a complete skeleton surrounded by dozens of artifacts.

This photo of Kim Kardashian at the 2018 Met Gala helped Egypt locate the sarcophagus of Nedjemankh, which is over 2,100 years old. The sarcophagus was stolen during the Arab Spring and sold with forged papers, before being purchased by the Met Museum and displayed right next to Kim.

In 2007, archaeologists have discovered an 11,000-year-old mural in Syria, which they believe is the world's oldest known painting on a constructed wall. The 2 square-metre mural was found inside the remains of a circular mudbrick building at the neolithic settlement of Dja'de el-Mughara

China's oldest surviving city map is carved on a 3-meter-tall stone tablet. Known as the Map of Pingjiang, it was made in 1229 CE and covers the area within Suzhou's city walls with remarkable accuracy: 5 city gates, 359 bridges, 67 temples, and numerous streets, lanes, and canals

The interior of the 4 m long stone coffin at the 90 m long Mukonoda tumulus in Japan. The inside of the coffin is dyed vermilion and contains the remains of a woman who was buried with 3 bronze mirrors, as well as beautiful ornaments such as magatama and wheel stones. 4th century CE
