Cordoba Mosque, Spain. Built in at least 7 phases between 784 and 987 AD, this temple still preserves the exquisite finesse of the best artisans of the time, not only Islamic, but Christian, Roman, Greek and Byzantine too. The most important religious building in the Islamic West.

The top image is a reconstruction of the Medieval Louvre which was built by Philip II in 1190. Between 1528-1660, it was generally demolished to make way for expanding the Louvre Palace, while some parts of the castle's foundations were incorporated in construction of the later palace

Lighthouse at Chania port, in Crete. Built in 1864 on the site of the original lighthouse erected by the Venetians. The Ottomans took the city by force in 1645 and the lighthouse was left to ruins. Egyptian troops rebuilt it in 1864. Only the base of the Venetian structure remains
