A Roman denarius minted around 76 AD to commemorate the rebuilding of the Temple of Jupiter. The reverse on this coin may have been defaced by someone who was unhappy about this event. Strangely enough, the temple burned down less than five years later.

Two 2×1×0.5 cm bird figurines carved in detail from mammoth ivory and thought to be 40,000 years old were recovered by a team from the University of Tübingen. They were found in the lower layers of the Aurignacian Paleolithic culture in Hohle Fels a UNESCO World Heritage Cave.

The portrait on the left was owned by the Carnegie Museum who were ready to discard it as a fake. Closer examination revealed that someone in the 19th cent. did a bad "touch up" work on it to make it prettier and easier to sell. They were able to completely restore the original painting
