A bone object found on the face of a corpse in the Bronze Age layers of Yanik Tepe in Iran. Originally interpreted by Burney as an amulet. In 2011, ophthalmologist Sahihi Oskooei claimed that it was instead the world's oldest eyewear, made to correct optical problems. 4000-3000 BCE

The building of Wells Cathedral in England, dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle, started in 1175 CE and went on for almost 300 years. In 1338 CE, the so-called St. Andrew's Cross arches were added to the building to support the central tower, giving the cathedral its unique appearance
