The 1st century CE al-Diwan is a square chamber containing 3 stone benches that served as a triclinium for sacred feasts. Carved by the Nabataeans into a hillside to shield it from the wind, it's one of the few extant examples of nonfunerary architecture in Madain Saleh, Saudi Arabia

Treasury chamber portal and round window, Petra, Nabatean Kingdom, 1st c. AD. Jordan. The two side portals are richly decorated. The pilasters end in floral capitals as those of the upper order of the building. Large volutes carry a wide cornice with winged creatures at the corners.
