A remarkably well-preserved Roman sarcophagus has been discovered in Budapest. The sarcophagus was found with its stone lid still fixed in place, secured by metal clamps and molten lead. When archaeologists lifted the lid, they found a complete skeleton surrounded by dozens of artifacts.

In 1997, archaeologists in Scotland discovered the skeleton of a Bronze Age woman buried in a crouched position inside a stone-lined grave. While little is known about the woman, whom they nicknamed "Upper Largie Woman" after the quarry where she was found. Per Smithsonian Magazine
