Chateau de Sully-sur-Loire is a castle, constructed along several centuries, converted to a palatial seigneurial residence, in Loiret, France. It is a chateau-fort, a true castle surrounded with a defensive moat, built to control one of the few sites where the Loire can be forded.

The 4th century CE Villa Romana del Casale in Sicily, is renowned for holding one of the world's largest and finest collection of in-situ Roman mosaics, covering over 3500 m². Preserved by a 12th-cent. mudslide, the villa complex sat on 22 acres, roughly equivalent to 17 football fields
