Roman tombstone for a beloved horse. The epitaph reads: "Once you ran faster than the birds in the sky, outracing even the northwest wind. But you no longer graze in Tuscan woods and Siculan fields, and now you rest peacefully in this tomb." From Brescia, Italy, 2nd century CE.

2nd century CE Roman pipe burial from Wales. Within the tomb was a lead canister containing cremated bones and a piece of linen bearing traces of frankincense. Pipe burials are thought to have allowed relatives to pour blood or wine into the container to nourish the soul of the deceased
