An Islamic prayer-rug made in Safavid Persia, c.1566 CE . Part of a set of Persian rugs, most of which were diplomatic gifts from the Safavids to the Ottomans. The poetic inscription around the border includes the name "Murad," probably referring to Sultan Murad III.
