2nd century CE Roman pipe burial from Wales. Within the tomb was a lead canister containing cremated bones and a piece of linen bearing traces of frankincense. Pipe burials are thought to have allowed relatives to pour blood or wine into the container to nourish the soul of the deceased

Two 2×1×0.5 cm bird figurines carved in detail from mammoth ivory and thought to be 40,000 years old were recovered by a team from the University of Tübingen. They were found in the lower layers of the Aurignacian Paleolithic culture in Hohle Fels a UNESCO World Heritage Cave.
